Camera Intelligence will Fuel Analytics

Camera Intelligence
Cameras Getting Smarter

As cameras get more intelligent, the data they can capture and share will continue to grow in importance. Cameras are no longer expected to just capture an image and pass it along to a receiving device. As chipsets shrink and processing power increases, even the smallest cameras will be able to capture and report back important data such as number of participants at particular dates and time.

Analytics tools will take this information and provide important insights such as level of attention and prediction of future behaviors. Certain cameras will also have sensors that help to detect depth; these measurements will be used to help fuel an entirely new category of VR and AR applications.

For example, a camera with depth capabilities can detect if an object is too close to a boundary for safety applications. Think of a patient recovery room  – the camera can provide important data that analytics tools can leverage to determine if a patient is visibly resting or uncomfortable as well as proximity to the edge of the bed.

These patterns can then be used to predict the possibility of potential outcomes, such as the probability of a patient fall. This can help to improve safety, increase life expectancy and reduce insurance premiums in the future. This advanced camera intelligence coupled with analytical tools will continue to reduce the human error factor and help with process efficiency.

Stay tuned for how VDO360 will have a role in this evolving world of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
